Saw Groundhog Day tonight in our local theater, the night before Groundhog Day. I live about four hours east of Punxsutawney, PA, but I’ve thought about getting up at like 4am and making the drive (but actually there’s no way I’ll be doing that).

“I understand that Gmail is trying to make the product more user friendly, but I think it’s making some questionable decisions without the user’s knowledge. And unlike some email clients that allow users to choose whether to include contact names when sending, Gmail enforces this behavior with no setting to disable it.”
Maybe you wanna check your CONTACT NAMES in Gmail. Yikes. Read more here.
Thank you Casey Barber for the final push to get me back to using RSS. Seems I forgot I had NetNewsWire installed, and now I have lots of catching up to do!

We need to stop living a post-first existence.
We’re writing our messages on the beach, knowing the ocean will come in and wash it away. We post to keep the algorithms from getting mad, to remind our audience that we have things to say multiple times per day, throughout the week, month after month.
When anyone asks me how to get more subscribers, I tell them by making sure their current subscribers love the emails they send. Like Seth Godin says, “would anyone miss you if you stopped showing up?”
Went out for a run yesterday. Garbage. Legs felt heavy, chest felt full of mashed potatoes. I don’t know what happened.
Today, thought I’d go for a quick “run to the mailbox” (my way of going out for the mail, but actually going for a run, and just seeing what happens).
Pure magic. Gliding on air, coasting like a bike, I don’t know what happened but it was stellar.
In each case I didn’t know what to expect, but getting out there in the first place is the only way to find out.
